Unit 1 Project Week

We were given the task of rebranding Foodreau.com. We were given a user persona, and the brand is already established so we were provided with a text scale and color pallet.

Day 1

Progress:

Hand drawn wire frames.

I hand drew my wire frames. I felt it allowed me to be more visually creative and to prevent redundancy with in my ideas.

Sign in page options.

I designed two Sign in pages. I chose the right page ultimately based on peer research and personal choice.

I chose this hero image based on color to empty space ratio

Goals for tomorrow: Work more on landing, and sign up page, create a Foodreau logo. I would also like to work on the recipe page. I have an idea but need to figure out how to put it into fruition.

Notes: I’m very happy with today’s progress. I feel after sleeping on it, I will be able to put my ideas down. Taking a step back is almost always necessary when creating anything.

Day 2

Progress:

  • Completed Sign In and Sign up pages.
  • Started working on the high-fidelity Landing page
  • Created high-fidelity Sign Up page
  • Modified Sign In a little

Goals for tomorrow:

To complete the high-fidelity landing page, and create sketches for the Recipes/Recipe page.

Notes:

I worked pretty quickly because I have to take half a day. I was able to complete 2 pages. At this rate if I am able to keep focus and work efficiently, I believe I should be able to attempt the stretch goals. I will work more on sketches on paper to put my ideas down for the Recipes page and stretch pages.

Sign Up Page

I created the Sign Up page based of the Log In page. I like the idea of being able to register for apps using Facebook and Google.

Day 3

Progress:

  • Created hovers for my Sign In and Sign up pages.
  • Completed the Landing page
  • Working on my high-fidelity Recipe/Recipes page

Goals for tomorrow: Complete final pages, create InVision Links, Create hovers for other buttons. Work on stretch goals, if time allots.

Notes: Today flowed really well. I got some feedback from classmates last night and was able to tighten up the look of my design. I am very happy with how it’s coming a long. I created a “Home” page, which I am still deciding if I want or not. I may scrap it due to redundancy.

Landing Page

My landing page was created using anchor points, so there is as little scrolling as possible. I wanted to give of the idea of easy access to go along with Foodreus’ UVP.

Day 4

Progress:

  • Completed mobile
  • Completed Landing, Sign In and Sign Up for desktop

Goals for tomorrow: Complete final desktop pages, work on blog.

Notes: Tomorrow is the last day. I have until 2pm to complete my project. I got a lot done, and now that I am finished with the recipe pages for mobile, turning it into desktop shouldn’t take very long. I am not as stressed as I was yesterday. Can’t wait to present and see everyone's projects.

Discovery and Recipe Book page

I tried to create cohesion between each of my pages after you log in. I like the idea of quick links. One critique I received was that there is too much real estate occupied by the quick links button, and adding a drop down menu instead would alleviate that. I chose to keep the hero image through out each of the pages for cohesion as well and because the image is vibrant and visually appealing.

Recipe Page

Recipes page was based of traditional recipe cards. I provided, services, time, number of ingredients, and difficulty for provide full recipe transparency. When you reach the bottom of the page there is an option to press the arrow to scroll back up.

Day 5

Progress:

  • Completed mobile
  • Completed desktop
  • Completed blog

Notes: I worked on my desktop app of all of today. I felt after my mobile was completed it would be pretty quick and easy to create a desktop. I worked pretty quickly and efficiently.

Landing, Sign In, and Sign Up pages.
Discovery and Recipe Book pages
Here is my Recipe page.

I did make a choice to change the color of the Recipe page. I thought it popped a little more than the lavender color. I also added a sticky note for visual appeal and familiarity.

Final Thoughts:

Time crunches are a strange thing. You either thrive, or get easily distracted. Today I feel I completed more than I did in the last 4 days. It could have been there was no Q/A to stop me from my flow, or it could be that I saw the final stretch and sprinted as fast as I could. Of course if I had just one more day to finalize everything I feel I could better solidify everything. Overall, I am pretty proud of my project and hope the class likes it.
